Many years ago I decided to take a leap of faith and learn how to build businesses online working from home.

Today, I have made some significant progress towards achieving my goals. I do work from home and get to spend time with my beautiful wife and three wonderful sons, and I also own a number of online businesses. Some of my businesses are quite profitable and I also earn an income from various other online activities, including affiliate marketing, selling information products such as e-books, audiobooks and video training business products, online advertising, social networking communities and providing online business and internet marketing consulting services.

For me, the learning curve to growing businesses successfully online has been very long and quite expensive. Like many people, I get bombarded daily with opportunities to make-money online and get offered a whole range of new and revolutionary tools and programs that promise quick riches, but seldom deliver.

Over the years I have tried lots of things that didn't work; "guaranteed success formulas" that distracted me from my goals, and "proven blueprints to riches" that ultimately cost me a lot of money and robbed me of precious time I could have spent with my family. Along the way, however, I did learn many things that do work and those are the things that I focus on today.

There are only really two ways that you can grow a successful business online. Either you pay someone to do things for you, or you need to put in the time required to learn how to get things done. Often, it's a combination of these two that works best. You have to spend time learning how some things work in order to get a clearer idea of where you want to get to and to be able to communicate to others how you want certain things done, and you also have to spend money on effective tools and systems that can help you leverage and manage your business and get results faster.

I have spent years learning how to plan and set up a business online, how to drive traffic to it, how to convert visitors into qualified prospects and buying customers and how to then automate the whole process so it keeps working for me 24/7, making me money and freeing up my time.

My expertise is in setting up automated online business systems that deliver proven and measurable results. I don't generally build websites for other people, as there are many professional companies and freelance web designers who can do this cheaper for you than I would. Domain Names

You can purchase a brand new .com domain from a reseller like GoDaddy for around $10. Just make sure the domain name you want is available and try to include the main keyword relating to your business in the domain name. GoDaddy has a great domain name search feature that shows you different available options if your desired domain name is taken and excellent domain name management features.

Webhosting

If you’re looking for a great webhosting service provider but don’t know where to start, then the two companies I highly recommend you look into are:

Hostgator – This company offers great value for money hosting for most blogs and websites, especially for small businesses.

LiquidWeb.com – They’re not the cheapest host, but they offer superior web hosting services and heroic customer support. I recommend this hosting company if you need a dedicated web server for your web presence with 24×7 support that will guarantee your peace of mind.

I use both of these companies for hosting my own sites as well as those of my clients and I am more than happy with the excellent service and value for money they provide.

Email Marketing

The service I personally use and recommend is aweber.
